Industry meets startups: potentials, case studies and networking (startup matchmaking event)

How can the potential of industrial innovations be fully exploited? Which technology and topic areas, as well as concrete needs, exist in startups and companies, and where does cooperation lend itself particularly well? This was the topic of the virtual startup matchmaking event “Industry meets Startups” on October 7, 2021, where established industrial companies and innovative startups with solutions for industrial applications got to know each other.

The event was hosted by Berlin Partner, which provides business and technology support for companies, investors and scientific institutions in Berlin. Berlin Partner was supported by the Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe as part of the master plan Industriestadt Berlin, as well as the IHK Berlin and the Unternehmensverbänden Berlin-Brandenburg. The event was organized by Ambivation, the bridge builder between companies and startups.

The event was the kick-off for the face-to-face follow-up workshop on November 23, 2021 at the Startup Incubator of the Hochschule fĂĽr Wirtschaft und Recht in Berlin. If you are interested in meeting companies and startups with relevant solutions for industrial applications, you can register for the follow-up workshop here until November 22, 2021. The workshop offers you the opportunity to enter into an exchange with potential partners with an interest in innovation and to jointly develop cooperation ideas.

In the interactive workshop “Industry meets Startups”, the focus was on networking the participants in order to identify relevant topics and existing needs in the industrial environment in a joint exchange. Introductory rounds took place in small groups, in which the participants got to know each other and were able to exchange cooperation knowledge and experiences. In the course of the workshop, relevant technology and topic fields, as well as needs for possible cooperation, were defined in the small groups. These included AI, data analysis and quality control, Industrial IoT, additive manufacturing and industrial automation. The small-group exchange gave participants the opportunity to get in touch with established companies and innovative startups in the industrial environment and to network with potential innovation partners.

The event also included a series of exciting keynote speeches in the area of Industry 4.0, best practice examples of successful collaborations, as well as challenges and strategies for successful collaboration between companies and startups. Christoph Baier, CEO of Ambivation, kicked things off with a keynote speech on the potential of startup collaborations and why more and more companies are turning to startups in their innovation processes. In his talk, Christoph Baier presented some collaboration examples and explained what can be learned from the startup culture and what companies should pay attention to when collaborating with startups.
