Startup Pitch of the Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure at the 29.03.2017 in Berlin – Short Report
Short report on the 1st Startup Pitch of the BMVI
1st BMVI Startup Pitch was the first pitch event for startups of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure to which Federal Minister Alexander Dobrindt invited 32 startups on the evening of 29 March 2017. The startups were allowed to present their ideas in just 3 minutes in front of an audience and a top-class jury. At the end of the evening, three particularly outstanding ideas were each awarded a prize money of € 10,000 by the jury and the minister.
Schedule of the event
After a short image film the event was opened by Minister Dobrindt. He stressed the importance of the exchange between his government and innovative startups. This was followed by the presentation of the members of the jury:
- Martina Koederitz, Chairwoman of the management board IBM Deutschland
- Georg F.W. Schaeffler, Chairman of the supervisory board Schäffler AG
- Frank Thelen, early-stage investor
- Ronald Pofalla, Director Infrastructure Deutschen Bahn
- Thomas Wolf, CEO RIB Software AG
The main focus of the evening was on the subsequent pitches of the startups. The main focus was on startups from the logistics and transport sectors. After a short consultation period of the jury, which the other guests of the audience could use to strengthen and initiate new contacts, the three winners of the evening were presented ceremoniously. The following three teams were able to celebrate 10,000 € each:
- accu:rate from Munich: Software for the analysis of flows of people
- DAVY from Berlin: Fuel cell hybrid propulsion system for boats
- RailWatch from Bonn: Digital monitoring system for freight traffic
